It’s that time of year again! Nominations are now open for the 2026 Colorado NENA/APCO State Chapter Awards. Every day across Colorado, incredible professionals are serving their communities, supporting their coworkers, leading their teams, and making a difference in the world of 911 and public safety communications. This is our opportunity to recognize those individuals and teams who consistently go above and beyond.
We encourage you to take a few minutes to think about the people you work alongside, supervise, collaborate with, or simply admire within our profession. Who deserves to be recognized this year? Whether it is a telecommunicator who handled an extraordinary call, a leader who has made a lasting impact, a trainer who inspires others, a technical professional who keeps critical systems running, or a team that demonstrated exceptional service, we want to hear their story.
Nomination Deadline: October 7, 2026
When submitting a nomination, please tell us what makes your nominee deserving of recognition and include specific examples when possible. Nomination narratives must be limited to no more than two to three paragraphs. A short, thoughtful nomination that clearly tells us what makes the individual, team, or center stand out is all we need.
Our Colorado 911 community is filled with people doing amazing things every day, often without expecting recognition for it. Let’s make sure those efforts don’t go unnoticed.

The Walt Hardesty Award recognizes an individual currently employed in a Colorado Public Safety Answering Point who exemplifies outstanding service and leadership within 911 emergency communications. Nominees should demonstrate excellent communication and relationship-building skills, exceptional teaching or mentoring abilities, and an elevated level of empathy toward others.
